Position Summary

The Membership Specialist is a relationship-focused professional responsible for growing and strengthening Chamber membership by identifying, recruiting, onboarding, and engaging new members while supporting the retention of existing members. Serving as a welcoming ambassador for the Chamber, this position builds meaningful connections with local businesses, community leaders, and stakeholders through networking events, business celebrations, community meetings, and other public engagements.

This role thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and works closely with Chamber staff to advance organizational goals, promote the value of membership, and elevate the Chamber's presence throughout the community. Working under the general direction of the Chamber President, the Membership Specialist is expected to exercise sound judgment and initiative while contributing to a culture of collaboration, service excellence, and continuous growth. Key Responsibilities Membership Recruitment & Prospects Pipeline
  • Lead in developing and executing membership recruitment and retention strategies
  • Identify, engage, and meet with business executives to promote and sell Chamber memberships
  • Maintain accurate records of sales, contacts, and prospects, providing bi-weekly updates to the President
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective members and track decision activities through customer relationship management software to meet monthly recruitment goals
  • Analyze membership trends and identify opportunities for growth within targeted industries and business sectors
  • Help develop and co-present the Chamber 101 series to ensure new members understand the benefits and opportunities available through the Chamber
Membership Retention
  • Coordinate and implement the Business of the Month program along with other member recognition activities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective members
  • Support member retention efforts through proactive communication and engagement, which includes following up with delinquent accounts
  • Conduct member visits and check-ins to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for increased involvement or membership upgrades
  • Analyze membership trends and propose opportunities to retain members to the Chamber President
Membership Marketing Support
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, and timely distribution of marketing materials that effectively communicate the value of Chamber membership
  • Co-create social media promotions to feature members
  • Connect with members to encourage the use of marketing benefits not already utilized at each membership level
Community Engagement & Representation
  • Register, organize, and regularly communicate with vendors for Liberty Fall Festival
  • Facilitate and manage the vendors for Liberty Fall Festival during the event
  • Support the planning and execution of chamber events, including Liberty Fest, annual scholarship fundraiser, and membership luncheons, ensuring events meet or exceed budget goals
  • Organize and execute new-member celebrations, including ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, etc.
  • Promote the Chamber's mission, programs, and initiatives throughout the business community
  • Collaborate with local businesses, service organizations, and community stakeholders to strengthen the Chamber's presence and impact
  • Lead and/or participate in chamber committees as assigned by the President
Additional Duties & Assignments
  • Perform other responsibilities as outlined in performance evaluations or assigned by the President, adapting to evolving needs and priorities
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong sales ability
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task and pursue multiple chamber initiatives simultaneously
  • Strong computer proficiency with the ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new software systems, databases, and digital tools, including a customer relationship
