Heavy Equipment Operator

Apex Operations Management is currently hiring for a Heavy Equipment Operator and Civil Construction position. You will run heavy machinery and install underground utilities.

• Install storm sewers and city sewers.
• Install city and public water lines.
• Performs back filling and grading operations to specified grade.
• Loads dump truck with excavated soils or materials such as stone, sand, aggregate, or asphalt.
• Operates heavy equipment such as a Track hoe, Loader, Dozer, Compactor, Blade, Skid steer, Mini, and other heavy equipment.
• Proficient in use of GPS capabilities on equipment.
• Understands how to read elevations cut/fill.
• Able to read and understand blueprints.
• Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in road, site or highway construction and paving.
• Responsible for a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers.
• Able to follow directions of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site.
• Conduct daily pre–and–post equipment inspections in compliance with company policies; document as required.
• Adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Properly follow all OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment including wearing personal protective equipment.
• Experienced with working in a team environment and assisting co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
• Professional and courteous to co-workers, supervisors, and the public at all times.

• High School Diploma/GED (Preferred)
• Heavy equipment operator experience: 5 years (Preferred)
• Reading cuts/fills experience: 5 years (Preferred)
• Fine grading experience: 5 years (Preferred)
• Be able to work overtime when required.
• Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
• Report to work at the designated start time.
