McKinney-Vento Tutor
The McKinney-Vento Tutor provides targeted academic support, homework assistance, and intensive mentorship to K-12 students identified as eligible under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. The tutor works to close achievement gaps, promote school stability, and foster resilience.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAcademic Instruction: Provide personalized, one-on-one or small-group tutoring in core subject areas (reading, math, science, and social studies) tailored to the student's current academic level.
Socio-Emotional Support: Build strong, trusting, and non-judgmental relationships with students to encourage open communication, boost self-esteem, and foster emotional resilience.
Collaboration: Coordinate regularly with the District Homeless Liaison, school counselors, and classroom teachers.
Data and Progress Tracking: Maintain accurate and confidential logs of student attendance, behavioral observations, and academic progress to ensure compliance with grant and district requirements.
