Position: Skills USA Advisor - Career and Tech. 2026-2027

SkillsUSA Advisor - Career and Technical Education  School Year

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and oversee the annual election and installation of SkillsUSA Chapter Officers.
  • Work collaboratively with CTE faculty to promote SkillsUSA participation and engage students from all Career and Technical Education programs.
  • Plan and facilitate a chapter kick-off event at the beginning of each school year to recruit members, introduce chapter goals, and build student engagement.
  • Conduct bi-monthly chapter meetings (approximately every six weeks) to promote leadership development, career readiness, service learning, and student involvement. Advisors will be excused from normal scheduled duties to facilitate meetings.
  • Serve as Chapter Treasurer by maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing fundraising activities, monitoring chapter accounts, and ensuring compliance with district and SkillsUSA financial procedures.
  • Coordinate and supervise chapter fundraising activities to support student leadership conferences, competitions, and chapter initiatives.
  • Integrate SkillsUSA's Framework and leadership activities into classroom instruction to reinforce employability, technical, and leadership skills.
  • Assist instructors in identifying, preparing, and coaching students for SkillsUSA regional, state, and national competitions.
  • Attend and supervise students at regional, state, and, when applicable, national SkillsUSA conferences and competitions.
  • Coordinate chapter participation in community service projects, leadership activities, career awareness events, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Encourage members to participate in leadership conferences, officer training, and professional development opportunities throughout the school year.
  • Collaborate with CTE instructors to maximize the use of SkillsUSA program funds and ensure expenditures support student leadership development and career technical education initiatives.
  • Maintain chapter records, membership information, meeting minutes, and required SkillsUSA reports in accordance with state and national guidelines.
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, staff, and administration regarding chapter activities, meetings, competitions, and events.
  • Plan and conduct an end-of-year chapter meeting and recognition celebration to acknowledge member accomplishments, officer service, competition results, and graduating seniors.
  • Develop an annual chapter calendar that includes meetings, fundraising activities, service projects, competitions, leadership events, and chapter goals aligned with the SkillsUSA Program of Work.
