As an NDT Operator using Non‑Destructive equipment such as EMI and UT, the operator will ensure the pipe or casing is free of imperfections. Operators are responsible for ensuring the NDT equipment is set up to meet quality standards and for following quality procedures.

• Properly set up and calibrate equipment
• Maintain inspection equipment
• Changeover equipment
• Verify inspection standards are still acceptable
• Read inspection chart and determine good or bad
• Communicate quality issues to quality supervisor and production
• Prep NDT reject samples in lab

• High School or equivalent; 40‑hour UT course or 28‑hour EMI course
• 120+ hours of NDT experience with certifications

• Language: read/write simple instructions; prepare reports and correspondence; present information to customers and employees
• Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide; compute rate, ratio, percent; draw and interpret bar graphs; apply basic algebra and geometry
• Reasoning: apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
• Computer: literate; work with Word, Excel, HP programs, e‑mail, ERP system

Level 1 or 2 in UT, EMI

The noise level is usually moderate.

Regularly required to stand, walk, and use arms and hands for extended periods. Must lift and load 50 lbs. Must work outside in various conditions with flexibility for shifts and hours.
