The Buck On Operator’s primary job duty is to meet work order requirements by being in control of the changeover and set up of the coupling makeup machine. This position is also responsible for power tightening couplings on a production line, and verifying that makeup meets customer and/or 5CT requirements. The Buck On Operator also operates and monitors the automatic full-length drift machine, and performs measurements with calipers and micrometers.

This role also performs visual inspections of equipment and products.

• Maintain the speed of the drifting machine.
• Ensure that the machine is working properly to process pipes.
• Confirm that pipe dope is sufficiently supplied and all surfaces of the thread are in proper order to operate the machine.
• Coordinate with inspector, CNC operator, and other machine operators to ensure production runs smoothly.
• Report to shift supervisor any items that need to be repaired, replaced, or purchased.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Be mechanically inclined.
• Be able to work in a fast paced environment.
• Prioritize safety.
• Carry out tasks not specifically listed within the scope and skill level of this position to support department objectives and develop one’s skills.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year operating industrial machinery.

Language

Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to present information to customers, clients, and employees in one-on-one and small group situations.

Mathematical

Skills:

Ability to perform basic arithmetic, compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpret bar graphs. Application of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other

Skills:

Computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word and Excel; able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.

Regularly required to stand, walk, and use arms and hands to load and unload material for extended periods. Must be able to lift and load up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work outside in a variety of conditions and tolerate any climate. Flexible with shift and hours.
