Licensure & QualificationsLicensure:
- Current valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Middle School Language Arts Endorsement
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education or a related field.
Experience:
- Preferred – Two (2) years of successful teaching experience working with a diverse population.
- Preferred – Four (4) years of prior successful teaching experience working with a diverse student population in an urban school setting.
- Planning and Preparation: Demonstrate knowledge of content, pedagogy, students, and resources; design coherent instruction; select appropriate instructional activities; assess student learning.
- Classroom Environment: Create an environment of respect and rapport; establish a culture for learning; manage classroom procedures; manage student behavior; organize the physical space.
- Instruction: Communicate clearly and accurately; use questioning and discussion techniques; engage students in learning; provide feedback; demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness.
- Professional Responsibility: Reflect on teaching; maintain accurate records; communicate professionally; contribute to the school and district; grow and develop professionally; demonstrate professionalism.
- Knowledge: Consistent with state certification requirements; contemporary principles and practices of teaching; classroom and behavior management techniques.
- Ability to Modify Instruction: Meet student needs; cooperate with faculty and administration in program development and implementation; work effectively with students, parents, staff, and community; understand students’ physical, intellectual, social, and emotional patterns.
- Skills: Application of contemporary teaching principles; good oral and written communication; good interpersonal skills; exercise sound and professional judgment.
- Technical:
- Proficient computer skills including Google Apps, Excel, and Microsoft Office.
- Proficient in IEP software processes and procedures.
- Knowledgeable about teaching and learning.
- Works effectively with data and research to develop and assess district strategies that increase student learning.

Salary Range$46,405 – $88,799, salary commensurate with experience, plus comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, life insurance).
