Job Summary

Summer School:
Health Assistant position in Woodland School District 50. Responsibilities include maintaining medical and health records, assisting nurse with student health services, and clerical duties.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate
  • Exemplary interpersonal, communication, technology, organizational, clerical skills.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining the health office under nurse’s direction
  • Collect and maintain health records and data
  • Perform clerical duties such as data entry, duplicating, filing, preparing files, folders, rosters, emergency cards, health protocols using appropriate technology
  • Assist with weekly, monthly, and annual reports
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all school and health‑related issues
  • Perform delegated tasks related to medications under supervision of school nurse
  • Assist in vision and hearing screenings, if certified
  • Provide minor first aid within first‑aid training
  • Maintain open communication with Registered Nurse and Certified School Nurse, relaying messages to teachers, staff, and parents
  • Contact parents or responsible adults in case of serious injury, illness, or other health problems as directed by the nurse
  • Perform other tasks and assume responsibilities assigned by Associate Superintendent of Education, School Nurse, or School Principal
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Maintain accurate medical records to assure compliance with state mandates and support data retrieval and analysis
    • Keep ongoing records of student visits to the health office documenting assessments, interventions, and dispositions
    • Manage school health records per Illinois School Student Records Act, ensuring efficient retrieval and archival responsibilities
    • Maintain daily environment of the health office and supplies
    • Utilize existing technology effectively and demonstrate computer literacy
    • Engage in continuing education to enhance professional knowledge
    • Participate actively in school community, representing health/wellness

    Physical Demands

    Requires manual dexterity, handling average weight materials, and exposure to potentially disagreeable elements. Work is not for sustained periods of heavy lifting.

    Terms of Employment

    June 8, 2026 – July 2, 2026;
    Monday thru Friday; 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

    Salary Range

    Minimum of $15.64 per hour. Current D50 employees in this position receive their current rate of pay.
