The Lead Specialist, Systems Administrator is accountable for the administration, support, availability, security, and continual improvement of enterprise systems and platforms within their assigned functional area. Operating under limited supervision, this role supports complex technical activities, applies advanced technical expertise, and ensures systems are configured, governed, and supported to deliver reliable business outcomes across the enterprise.
This role provides hands-on systems administration, configuration, lifecycle management, monitoring, integration support, data quality oversight, and end-user enablement for assigned applications, platforms, and related services. The Lead Specialist partners with business and IT stakeholders to translate requirements into sustainable solutions, guide project and process execution, maintain controlled release practices, and serve as an internal subject matter expert and technical resource for cross-functional teams.
ResponsibilitiesSystems ownership, governance, and roadmap
- Support the strategy and roadmap for assigned enterprise systems, aligned to business outcomes, IT standards, security requirements, and enterprise architecture direction.
- Establish and support system governance practices, including intake and demand management, standards, documentation, technical debt management, prioritization, and KPI-driven continual improvement.
- Administer and configure assigned systems and platform capabilities, including user access, roles, permissions, workflows, forms, notifications, automation, data structures, reporting, and other configuration elements as applicable.
- Maintain environments, implement SDLC controls, coordinate testing and release activities, and ensure change and release processes meet audit, compliance, security, and operational requirements.
- Own configuration and continual improvement for assigned business or IT processes supported by enterprise systems, ensuring alignment to process standards, user needs, and operational goals.
- Partner with process owners and stakeholders to define requirements, policies, data standards, approvals, reporting, and user experience improvements; translate complex needs into scalable system solutions.
- Own system configuration, data model, data integrity, and lifecycle practices for assigned systems, including governance, integrations, data quality monitoring, and operational use across teams.
- Administer advanced platform capabilities as in scope, such as workflow automation, integrations, monitoring, analytics, identity/access connections, or system health capabilities that improve service reliability and reduce operational risk.
- Own recurring system support and operational processes, including access administration, configuration maintenance, incident and problem resolution, upgrades, audits, and lifecycle activities.
- Support compliance, risk reduction, and optimization by maintaining accurate system data, documentation, controls, reporting, and partnerships with Security, Compliance, Procurement, Finance, or other stakeholders as needed.
- Design, maintain, and troubleshoot integrations with related enterprise, identity, endpoint, procurement, financial, reporting, or operational systems; ensure data integrity, resiliency, and appropriate monitoring.
- Deliver dashboards, KPIs, and operational reporting for assigned systems; monitor system health and performance and drive automation and continuous improvements to reduce cost, risk, and manual effort.
