Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Meets regularly with the head custodian to coordinate janitorial and custodial needs.

Follows and implements safe work practices and wears appropriate protective equipment, including a District-provided uniform.

Performs general cleaning and maintenance, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing according to district practices.

Assists with snow removal from driveways, parking lots, sidewalks, and entrances using District-provided shovels and machines.

Maintains building and grounds safety and security, performing final security checks at shift end.

Ensures fire safety responsibilities are met.

Sanitizes washroom fixtures and surfaces according to district criteria.

Removes refuse and manages waste disposal.

Sets up chairs, tables, and staging for school events.

Maintains the surrounding grounds as required.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
Physical ability to lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds regularly, up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Experience with custodial products and equipment, including handling chemical cleaners safely.
Familiarity with Green cleaning practices; floor stripping with a Square-Scrub machine is a plus.
Ability to develop professional relationships with staff and community members.
Flexibility to work during holidays, weekends, evenings, and during inclement weather as needed.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Terms of Employment

Twelve months, hourly rate starting at $16.23, plus benefits and IMRF eligibility.
