This role oversees a powder coating department on 1st shift, leading a team of 15–20 employees. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring production schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and team members are properly trained. This position requires strong hands-on powder coating experience as well as proven supervisory skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Job Duties- Supervise, direct, and support 15–20 employees on 1st shift.
- Train new employees on powder coating processes and departmental responsibilities.
- Start or verify proper startup of the line daily.
- Manage daily workflow to meet production demands.
- Oversee loading and unloading of parts on/off the powder coating line.
- Confirm quality of masking, plugging of holes, and thread protection prior to coating.
- Ensure compliance with customer-specific paint class and quality requirements.
- Prep parts per production schedule, coordinating with hangers to avoid missed work orders.
- Monitor packaging of parts and orders prior to shipment or transfer to inventory.
- Communicate daily with management, HR, and other departments via email.
- Troubleshoot line equipment and resolve issues as needed.
- Multi-task and manage priorities in a high-paced environment.
- Powder coating application experience required (2–3 years preferred).
- Previous supervisory experience required (2–3 years minimum, with responsibility for 8–12+ people).
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) with ability to give detailed instructions.
- Detail-oriented, team-focused, and quality-driven with a zero-defect mindset.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to stand for full shifts, lift up to 35 lbs., and perform repetitive reaching, turning, and twisting
- Experience with ERP or scheduling systems.
- Exposure to OEM quality standards
