About This OpportunityAs an Employment Specialist, you'll guide adults with developmental disabilities through skill development, job exploration, and community employment opportunities. You’ll provide hands-on coaching, workplace support, and individualized training that helps participants achieve greater independence and long-term success. Based at our Libertyville campus and in the community, you’ll enjoy a dynamic, team-oriented environment while making a meaningful difference every day.
What you’ll accomplish- Support participants in developing vocational, social, and job-readiness skills through individualized coaching and real-world work experiences
- Assist with job exploration, placement, and on-the-job training in both Lambs Farm enterprises and community businesses
- Build strong partnerships with local employers to create inclusive employment opportunities
- Provide ongoing support, mentoring, and performance feedback to help participants succeed and grow
- Maintain accurate documentation and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement service plans
You bring patience, encouragement, and a belief in every person’s potential. Your adaptability and strong communication skills help you connect with participants, coworkers, and community partners while supporting success in a variety of work settings.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred
- Completion of the Direct Support Persons Training Curriculum provided by Lambs Farm within 120 days of employment
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in vocational training, coaching, or workforce development is preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting systems
- Ability to travel locally and work in a variety of environments
