The Teacher Education Program at Brigham Young University–Hawaii has an immediate opening for the position of Field Coordinator. This position works approximately 19 hours per week.
Job SummaryThe Field Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between the BYUH Teacher Education Program and local school administration, coordinating student practicum placements within the schools. Additionally, he/she recruits and coordinates adjuncts who conduct observations of Teacher Education Program practicum students.
Summary of Essential FunctionsServe as the program liaison between the BYUH Teacher Education Program and local school administration. (50%)
- Maintain positive public relationships with local school administration.
- Solicit recommendations for cooperating teachers from local school administration.
- Complete required HIDOE paperwork for practicum placements.
Arrange and coordinate practicum placements within local school systems. (25%)
- Contact recommended teachers to secure practicum placements.
- Arrange appropriate cooperating teachers/classrooms placements for Teacher Education Program practicum students.
- Schedule and conduct orientation meetings with cooperating teachers semiannually.
- Schedule and conduct orientation meetings with practicum students semiannually.
- Serve as the liaison for any questions or concerns that may arise.
- Complete required BYUH paperwork for practicum placements.
- Maintain Teacher Education Program records for practicum placements
Serve as the program liaison with adjunct observers. (25%)
- Schedule and conduct orientation meetings with adjunct observers semiannually.
- Assign adjuncts to conduct observations of Teacher Education Program practicum students.
- Coordinate the retention of current adjunct observers.
- Coordinate the recruitment of new adjunct observers.
- Serve as the liaison for any questions or concerns that may arise.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
- 3 years of employment within the HIDOE or equivalent experience.
- Experience and knowledge of the HIDOE system or equivalent public education system.
- Previous experience as a school administrator within the State of Hawaii Department of Education or a similar state agency
- Previous experience within the Windward Complex of the State of Hawaii Department of Education or a similar state agency
- Previous experience supervising university pre-service education students.
$35.00
The wage offered could be above or below range based on education and experience as it relates to the job description.
