Other Conditions: Part‑time position for placement on lecturer candidate pool, contingent on availability of funds and actual staffing requirements. Teaching assignments may include daytime, evening, early‑morning, weekend, Early College, off‑campus, and/or distance‑education courses.
Duties and Responsibilities- Under general supervision, conduct courses in Speech.
- Maintain office hours of at least one hour per week for each course taught.
- Prepare course outlines and reports related to teaching and student progress.
- Work under the department chairperson to integrate teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
- Complete student and peer evaluations and self‑assessment of teaching effectiveness.
- May include instructional assignments involving distance learning or Early College courses taught at local public high schools.
- Commit to community college principles and philosophy.
- Support the college’s “open door” concept and serve a multicultural/multiethnic student and community population.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in Speech, Communicology, Communication, Communication Studies, or Speech Communication.
All degrees must be earned from an accredited institution. If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting the minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis.
Desirable Qualifications- Successful community college teaching experience.
- Experience integrating writing assignments and appropriate thinking skills into course content as a core element of learning activities.
- Successful college‑level teaching experience.
