Position: ENERGY RECOVERY ENGINEER (EN-26) [1 vacancy]

TheDepartment of Environmental Services,Refuse Collection and Disposal Divisionis hiring an Energy Recovery Engineer. The position assists the Energy Recovery Administrator with monitoring the operating contractor's performance at the H-POWER (Honolulu Program of Waste Energy Recovery) waste-to-energy plant.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Developing and maintaining the necessary engineering records required to verify quality and quantity of waste processed.
• Verifying by engineering analysis that performance guarantees regarding capacity, energy and materials recovery, environmental regulations, residue quality and weight reduction are met.
• Verifying that technical contractual responsibilities are met and takes necessary corrective action with other division sections and private haulers as required.
• Performing engineering liaison with other divisional and governmental personnel, private interest groups and the general public in coordinating projects.
• Providing engineering input and participation in the planning of other waste-to-energy projects, such as landfill gas recovery.

Conditions:

Daily work requires inspections of industrial site, requires use of such safety equipment on a full time basis as: hard hat, safety glasses, climbing belt, safety shoes, and periodic use of various types of respirators, as well as knowledge on use of emergency chemical showers/eye wash equipment, etc.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty.

Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One (1) year of registered professional engineering experience in the planning, design, and/or operation of a large oil, coal, waste, or nuclear fueled power plant.
