As an Airport Law Enforcement Officer - Armed in Lihue, HI, you’ll serve on the front line of aviation security—ensuring public safety, safeguarding airport facilities, and upholding the spirit of aloha through professional service. You will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and remain highly visible to support a positive atmosphere. This position requires you to be armed and to operate a vehicle as part of your responsibilities.

Full Time - Afternoon

Pay Rate: $28.86 / Hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked by the employee.

To be considered, all applicants must meet the following criteria:

• 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy

• Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying)
• Valid Driver's License
• Law Enforcement Officer License
• 22+ years of age

The basic qualifications listed below are representative of the relevant knowledge, skills, and/or experience required to be hired. These are the minimum requirements for success in this role.

Applicant must complete one of the following approved programs:

• Certified State law enforcement recruit training
• Certified County law enforcement recruit training
• Federal law enforcement training
• Programs approved by the Director
• Each LEO will possess the following minimum qualifications:
  No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(9)) or documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings

* A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions.

• Must be able to supervise Contractor’s personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies and the public on security matters.

These are other criteria that may enhance the hiring decision but would not rule out the candidate if not present.

• Shall have no record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders which may interfere with performance of duties.

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
• Exercise sound judgement and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
• Maintain maturity in conduct and attitude.
• Take orders, follow instructions, and assume responsibility for one’s actions.

• Show courtesy in interactions with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel.
• LEOs may be required to provide a court appearance for citations issued on behalf of DOTA. Contractor shall provide replacement staffing for LEOs that are required to attend a court proceeding.
