Founded in 1938, Wilcox Medical Center is a not-for-profit medical center dedicated to providing the Kaua‘i community with accessible quality health care. The largest medical center on Kaua‘i, it is a state-of-the-art acute care facility with a full suite of services offering 30 specialties and programs, including cardiology, emergency, family practice, gastroenterology, health management, internal medicine, neurology, OB-GYN, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and urology.

Its 18-bed emergency department serves as the island’s Primary Stroke Center. The medical center also has four birthing suites, seven intensive care beds and 20 same-day surgery beds. Wilcox is the first American College of Surgeons-verified Level III Trauma Center in the state of Hawai‘i. Wilcox is part of Hawai‘i Pacific Health, one of the state’s leading health care systems and a not-for-profit health care organization with medical centers, clinics, physicians and other caregivers working together to create a healthier Hawai‘i.

The Security team provides security, information, directions and escort service to patients and staff as needed, while adhering to policies and regulations regarding safety. As Security Officers patrol Hawai‘i Pacific Health facilities, they are often the first to meet and greet our clients, which positions the community’s experience at our facility in a positive way. The Security team plays a vital role in creating a sense of safety and security throughout our hospitals, which is important to our patients and their families.

If you would like to help create a safe and comfortable environment for our patients, staff and guests at Wilcox Medical Center, you could be the ideal person for this position. Responsibilities include providing protection and security for facility personnel, patients, visitors, and property through security and safety patrols, crisis intervention, investigation into minor crimes and accidents, and serving as a visual deterrent to potential problem situations.

You will participate in safety programs and provide support to all departments. We are looking for an individual who is dependable and observant, with excellent customer service skills and a commitment to creating a healthier Hawai‘i.

Security

High School or equivalent. Current Hawai‘i Security Guard Registration (GDE) License. Six (6) months security experience or experience in a related field. Current Heart Saver-AED card or current BLS card.

International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) Basic Healthcare Security Officer Training Certificate to be obtained within one year of hire. Teamwork Awareness Prevention Course to be attended within one (1) year of hire. Hospital security experience.
