The Airport Law Enforcement Officer – Airport Armed Patrol Driver (Lihue, HI) will serve on the front line of aviation security, ensuring public safety, safeguarding airport facilities, and upholding the spirit of aloha through professional service. The role requires monitoring and patrolling assigned areas, conducting routine patrols, and remaining highly visible to support a positive atmosphere.

Pay Rate$28.86 per hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked by the employee.
Job ScheduleTues 02:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Wed 02:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Minimum Qualifications- 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level)
- Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying)
- Valid driver's license
- Law enforcement officer license
- 22+ years of age
- A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions.

Formal Education, Licenses, and Certifications Required- Certified State law enforcement recruit training
- Certified County law enforcement recruit training
- Federal law enforcement training
- Programs approved by the Director
- Each LEO must possess the following minimum qualifications:
- No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under the Lautenberg Amendment or documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings (referring to the decisions in Giglio v. United States and United States v. Henthorn).
- Must be able to supervise contractor personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies, and the public on matters relating to security disputes, complaints on performance, conduct, or behavior of subordinate employees.
- Shall have no record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders which may interfere with performance of duties.
- Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner.
- Exercise sound judgment and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
- Mature conduct, behavior, and attitude.
- Take orders, follow instructions, accept and assume responsibility for one’s actions.
- Maintain alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct; recognize, respond, and take appropriate corrective actions to various situations.
- Demonstrate strong moral character and high standards of truthfulness.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English.
- Show courtesy in interpersonal relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel.
- LEOs may be required to provide a court appearance for citations issued on behalf of DOTA; contractor shall provide replacement staffing for LEOs required to attend a court proceeding.
- Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for their assigned post/duties.
- In good physical health and fully capable of performing normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion such as standing, walking, patrolling for an entire shift(s), climbing stairs, running, and self‑defense.
