OverviewBlue Hawaiian pilots conduct air tours safely while providing a world‑class experience to guests. We seek skilled pilots who prioritize flight safety and thrive in a transparent environment with managerial support for conservative decision‑making.
ResponsibilitiesThe Pilot assigned to any flight is responsible for operating the aircraft in accordance with applicable FARs, company operating procedures, operations specifications, and the operating limitations of that aircraft as provided in the approved AFM.
The classification of this position is broad and assigned specific functional areas; duties and assignments may overlap depending on the operational needs of the department.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities Include The Following- Ensure that the following items and equipment are on board the aircraft as required: aircraft registration, airworthiness certificate, AFM, daily logbook, company GOM, current Hawaiian Island sectional aeronautical chart, current Pacific chart supplement.
- Passenger briefing cards applicable to type of aircraft.
- First aid kit, fire extinguishers, airsickness bags.
- One life jacket per occupant.
- For night flights, items required in FAR 135.159 and 135.161.
- Check the aircraft maintenance record log to determine that scheduled maintenance or other required inspections are current. Review the previous five daily log sheets for maintenance performed.
- Determine the aircraft is airworthy and a proper preflight, in accordance with the AFM and company policy, has been performed.
- Verify the aircraft is loaded within center‑of‑gravity limits, does not exceed maximum gross weight or center‑of‑gravity limits for takeoff and landing.
- Check current weather, NOTAMS, PIREPs, and all other available information concerning the flight.
- Ensure passengers are briefed on boarding, in‑flight, deplaning and emergency procedures.
- File a company or FAA flight plan for all flights, including test, ferry, and training flights.
- Maintain personal possession of a valid FAA Airline Transport Rating and/or Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate ratings, a valid Class I or Class II medical certificate, a valid government driver’s license, and a flight check passed within the last 12 months.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Regular scheduled attendance.
- Travel percentage: 70%.
Regular attendance is an essential function of the position. All employees must follow Blue Hawaiian Helicopters employment practices and policies.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Education & Experience- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2,500 pilot‑in‑command hours documented and verifiable.
- 1,000 turbine hours.
- Preferred pilot‑in‑command hours.
- Commercial‑instrument helicopter rating required.
- Excellent customer‑service communication skills.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to clearly and concisely articulate conclusions to senior management and teams.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple, cross‑functional projects simultaneously.
- Team player with the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to establish effective relationships with team members and the general public.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Clearance on TSA/FBI background check.
- Participation in FAA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
- Ability to work effectively in extreme heat and cold safely.
- Ability to lift 35 pounds regularly.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach over shoulders.
Minimum pay: USD $90,000.00 /Yr.
Maximum pay: USD $ /Yr.
