Qualifications
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Talking, hearing, and seeing. Sedentary work;
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in planning, environmental design, public administration or related field with GIS experience. One year of professional experience in planning, GIS, community development, construction permitting or related field, or any equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia.
Special RequirementsREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND
SKILLS:
Knowledge of municipal zoning and infrastructure, planning programs and permitting processes, general business development. Knowledge of general planning theories and principles. Knowledge of city ordinances, codes, or other applicable local, state or federal regulations relating to economic development. Knowledge of CDBG and other Georgia grant programs and their administrative requirements. Skill in communicating clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
Skill in analyzing problems and developing solutions. Skill in public speaking, interpersonal relations, public and community relations techniques, including negotiation and conflict resolution. Skill in operating basic office equipment, i.e., computer and applicable software. Ability to administer programs and projects in a timely and effective manner. Ability to collect, analyze and make recommendations about data. Ability to establish effective working relationships with other City employees, business owners, homeowners, civic organizations, commissions and the general public.
Ability to process information, applications, documents and forms requiring accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail. Ability to research and organize a calendar of competitive grant applications and prepare outlines to evaluate criteria for funding. Ability to drive and operate a City vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
The expected starting salary for this position will be determined based on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The City offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage. Life insurance and long-term disability benefits are paid by the City. The City participates in the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) Employee Retirement Defined Benefit Retirement program and a Deferred Compensation 457 (b) plan.
SalarySalary Range: $62,721.70–$78,402.11
