The Asphalt Plant Quality Control (QC) Technician is responsible for ensuring all asphalt products meet company, state, and project specifications. This position involves performing laboratory and field testing, monitoring plant operations, documenting test results, and working closely with plant operators, paving crews, and management to maintain high-quality asphalt production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform quality control testing on hot mix asphalt (HMA), aggregates, and raw materials.
  • Collect asphalt samples from the plant and job sites for testing and analysis.
  • Conduct gradation, asphalt content, density, moisture, and compaction testing.
  • Monitor asphalt plant production to ensure mixes meet GDOT and customer specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results, reports, and quality documentation.
  • Assist plant operators with mix adjustments to maintain product quality.
  • Perform roadway density testing and core sampling when required.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and environmental regulations.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory testing equipment.
  • Work flexible hours, including nights or weekends during paving season if needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in asphalt QC, construction materials testing, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of asphalt mix designs and testing procedures.
  • Familiarity with GDOT, AASHTO, or ASTM specifications is a plus.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and maintain detailed records.
  • Ability to lift up to 50–70 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Certifications
  • GDOT Asphalt Plant Level 1 or Level 2 Certification
  • ACI or NICET certifications
  • Nuclear Density Gauge Certification (if applicable)
