The Project Accounting Support role provides essential financial and administrative assistance to ensure accurate and timely project cost tracking, reporting, and compliance. This position works closely with project managers, site supervisors, and the accounting team to maintain financial integrity throughout the construction project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Cost Tracking & Reporting:
Assist in monitoring project budgets, commitments, and expenditures;
Prepare and update cost reports for project management review;
Verify and reconcile vendor invoices against purchase orders and contracts. - Document Management:
Maintain organized records of contracts, change orders, invoices, and payment applications;
Ensure compliance with company policies and project-specific requirements. - Payroll & Timekeeping Support:
Collect and review timesheets for accuracy and completeness;
Coordinate with HR/payroll for timely processing of site labor hours;
Support the processing of subcontractor pay applications and lien waivers;
Track and maintain insurance certificates and compliance documents. - Financial Analysis & Assistance:
Assist with monthly project financial reviews and forecasting;
Help identify cost variances and communicate findings to the project team.
- Education:
Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred (or equivalent experience). - Experience:
1–3 years in accounting or administrative support, preferably in construction or project-based environments. - Skills:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., SAP, JD Edwards, or similar);
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, site-based environment. - Core Competencies:
Accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting;
Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders;
Problem-solving and adaptability to changing project needs.
