A Senior Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting and financial functions supporting the Accounting/Finance departments. This role plays a key part in financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, and compliance processes. All tasks require a high degree of confidentiality and accuracy.
Position Responsibilities- Perform account analysis and reconciliation for all balance sheet accounts across all entities.
- Complete monthly financial statement close activities in accordance with established closing schedules.
- Analyze financial data to support strategic decision-making, cost reduction, and revenue enhancement.
- Actively participate in and contribute to audits, cost reporting, and tax filings; ensure all audit, cost report, and tax return requirements are completed by established deadlines.
- Participate in the annual fiscal budget process and ongoing financial projections throughout the fiscal year, including:
- Utilizing budget software to create budgets and forecasts
- Providing detailed financial analysis
- Projecting future results
- Converting budget data into the general ledger system
- Collaborate with operations leaders, program directors, and other departments to align financial processes with organizational goals.
- Take the lead in coordinating the accounts payable month‑end closing process, including resolving accounting issues and supporting Business Office personnel.
- Maintain and support accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
- Support departments and staff with financial processes, procedures, and inquiries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required with a minimum of six (6) years of relevant healthcare accounting experience. Demonstrates strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication abilities and the capacity to exercise sound and logical judgment in a variety of situations. Possesses in‑depth knowledge of financial systems, including general ledger, GAAP, financial statement presentation, budgeting, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with expertise in the use of spreadsheets and other software programs to maximize efficiency. Experience with Sage or similar accounting systems preferred. Familiarity with software tools used to identify and analyze quality indicators, measure variables, and highlight financial trends is expected. Experience with AI tools to automate reconciliations, detect anomalies, and generate predictive financial insights is a plus.
Demonstrates an understanding of regulations governing the long‑term care industry, including Medicare, Medicaid, and HUD.
