Communications And Public Safety Dispatcher
Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies and procedures, the Communications and Public Safety Dispatcher processes internal and external calls; monitors and coordinates communication of alarms; receives incoming calls for police and security services, dispatches officers as appropriate, and monitors police radio alarms. Documents police and security service requests in an electronic records management and dispatch system. Operates National Crime Information Center (NCIC) console, Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS), a computer aided mobile dispatch system, and multiple interoperable radio consoles;
completes forms and maintains accurate records; and performs a variety of clerical tasks in support of LMHS operations.
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Post-secondary coursework in medical terminology and/or computer skills is preferred.
Licensure/CertificationMust be able to successfully complete an Ohio Attorney General/BCI certification for OHLEG and NCIC records checks. Must also be able to successfully complete and pass an Ohio Department of Public Safety approved LEADS course, within 90 days of hire.
ExperiencePrevious experience as an operator using similar equipment is preferred.
SkillsStrong customer service and communication skills, including a clear speaking voice, and a high degree of professionalism is required. Basic keyboarding (40 WPM), and the ability to produce high quality, accurate work in a high stress, multitasking environment are also required.
