Job SummaryThe Middle School Assistant Principal supports the Principal in providing leadership, supervision, and administration of the school’s educational program. This role focuses on fostering a safe, positive, and academically rigorous learning environment while supporting staff, students, and families. The Assistant Principal helps oversee daily operations, student discipline, instructional programs, and school culture.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Principal in managing the overall operations of the school
- Support and evaluate instructional programs to ensure high-quality teaching and learning
- Promote a positive school climate focused on respect, safety, and student achievement
- Oversee student discipline, attendance, and behavior management systems
- Collaborate with teachers to improve instructional practices and student outcomes
- Participate in staff supervision, evaluation, and professional development
- Coordinate school activities, schedules, and events
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, staff, and community members
- Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations, and safety procedures
- Analyze student data to inform decision-making and school improvement efforts
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field
- Valid state administrative certification/licensure
- Prior teaching experience (middle school experience preferred)
- Previous leadership or administrative experience (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices
- Strong leadership and decision‑making abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Conflict resolution and problem‑solving skills
- Organizational and time‑management skills
- Commitment to equity and student success
School-based setting with frequent interaction with students, staff, and families. May require attendance at evening events, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
