Summary of Duties

The Program Coordinator provides strategic leadership, academic oversight, and operational management for the Addictions, Mental Health & Social Work Assistant (AMS) Program. This role is responsible for advancing student-centered instruction, expanding access to learning, and ensuring high-quality curriculum aligned with industry and licensure. The coordinator oversees faculty and adjunct staffing, budget and scheduling, curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement. The Coordinator prioritizes recruitment, retention, and graduation of AMS students;

fosters strong community, workforce, and university partnerships; and leads program outreach, articulation, and career pathway development. In collaboration with college leadership, ensure program meets regional workforce needs while promoting innovation, faculty support, and student success.

Duties & Responsibilities

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Directly supervise the AMS program.
  • Co-create and communicate a clear vision for program delivery that expands access (e.g., distance, hybrid, flexible scheduling) and supports high-impact learning.
  • Ensure the integrity, excellence, reputation, and continuous improvement of the program through leadership, influence, innovation, partnerships, and advancement of the disciplines.
  • Meet regularly with the Assistant Dean to review budgetary and strategic matters; engages in ongoing mentoring with the Dean, Assistant Dean, peers, and AMS faculty to support leadership growth.
  • Manage programmatic operations including employment paperwork, faculty workloads, attendance tracking, course scheduling, purchasing requests, equipment inventory, catalog information, travel requests, student advising, classroom and lab use, supplies, and curricular/classroom grievances.
  • Maintain the programmatic budget; ensures timely preparation of personnel action requests (PARs).
  • Meet all established Division, Academic, and College deadlines.
  • Submit program review and strategic planning as part of the College’s planning process and conducts appropriate follow-up documentation.
  • Ensure curriculum and program delivery meet all relevant registration, certification, and licensure standards, as well as internal College policies and procedures.
  • Teach courses according to the expected teaching load for academic coordinators.
  • Drive innovation in learning and curricula by remaining aware of new opportunities related to community and industry interest.
  • Implement curriculum design and delivery for all courses, embed appropriate industry-recognized credentials.
  • Review and revise curriculum as needed and develop and/or propose new courses, certificates, and programs that meet industry and community needs.
  • Regularly examine Open Educational Resources (OERs) for possible textbook adoption in consultation with department faculty.
  • Initiate and follow through on the transfer application processes for qualified courses (i.e. OT36, CTAG, TAG, MTAG, ITAG).
  • Review student requests for prior learning experience and ensure appropriate evaluation against standards.
  • Prioritize instruction, proactive recruitment, persistence, retention, and timely graduation of AMS students.
  • Develop student-centered schedules, maximizing enrollment and minimizing costs.
  • Address student issues in a timely manner following College processes, policies and procedures.
  • Perform retention and re-engagement activities to support current students and outreach to stop-outs or alumni as appropriate.
  • Prioritizes College Credit Plus (CCP) recruitment activities and oversees appropriate delivery of coursework in CCP settings; manages plans of study for the program.
  • Identify, recruit, hire, mentor, and support regular and adjunct faculty, ensuring consistent instructional quality and alignment with program outcomes.
  • Maintain ongoing support, professional development, and evaluation of program faculty.
  • Engage in community outreach to elevate awareness, build trust, and improve access.
