Lima | Campus The Lima campus of The Ohio State University seeks a Lecturer in the Department of Education, starting Autumn 2026. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to the teaching mission of The Ohio State University and experience teaching literacy.
** Position Overview
** The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in literacy education and language arts methods and will play an integral role in supporting preservice teachers’ development through
** coursework and supervised field experiences**.
** 24 credit hours
** to include:
* ** Key literacy courses including Language Arts methods, TLTED 5468 – Foundations of Reading and Literacy
** and
** TLTED 5469 – Language and Word Study for All Learners
*** Supervision of preservice teachers
These courses emphasize
** explicit, systematic, and evidence-based instruction
** in phonological awareness, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and assessment-informed teaching practices.
** Responsibilities
* ** Teach literacy and language arts methods courses for preservice teachers
* Prepare candidates in
** Science of Reading–aligned instruction.
*** Supervise and evaluate
** preservice teachers in field placements.
*** Collaborate with regional school partners to ensure high-quality clinical preparation
* Model effective instructional practices, including differentiation and assessment-informed instruction
* Contribute to program coordination, accreditation, and continuous improvement efforts
* Engage in service to the program, campus, and college
** Required Qualifications**
* ** ODEW SOR training
** completed no later than August 30th.
* ** Master’s degree (M.Ed. or equivalent)
** in Literacy Education, Reading, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field
* Demonstrated expertise in
** literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading
*** Significant experience teaching reading/literacy in P–12 settings
* Experience supporting or mentoring preservice teachers or novice educators
* Knowledge of literacy assessment and data-informed instruction
** Preferred Qualifications**
* ** Earned doctorate (PhD or EdD)
** in Literacy, Reading, or related field
* Experience teaching and supervising in higher education
* Familiarity with Ohio’s
** Reading and Literacy Core requirements
** and licensure expectations
* Expertise in supporting struggling readers, including those with dyslexia
* Experience integrating the arts (e.g., drama) into literacy instruction
