Direct assistant to the Institution Warden, requiring thorough knowledge of Ohio adult rehabilitation & correction system.
Responsibilities- Act as warden for assigned operations: administer and direct disciplinary process, training programs, safety and health.
- Supervise staff and schedule work assignments.
- Serve as principal liaison for warden, coordinate public relations and respond to inquiries from general public and outside agencies.
- Coordinate responses to regulatory agencies (e.g., EPA, OSHA, fire marshal).
- Review and sign administrative documents on behalf of warden.
- Coordinate/ chair meetings and team task forces (e.g., problem solving).
- Complete reports reflecting institutional activities.
- Write correspondence.
- Assist warden/business manager in fiscal and budget planning.
- Recommend policy and procedure changes.
- Participate in developing and implementing policies and procedures for assigned areas.
- Serve as institution public information officer.
- Conduct interviews with incarcerated persons and make decisions on status of individuals.
- Address and resolve issues/concerns brought to warden’s office.
- Serve as duty officer as assigned.
- Serve on committees and represent warden at meetings.
- Serve on interview panels.
- Speak with public stakeholders.
- Consult with warden on sensitive issues.
- Serve as liaison between warden and staff or outside agencies.
- Complete performance evaluations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 30 months experience in Ohio's adult rehabilitation & correction system; OR 1 course or 3 months experience in English grammar & composition or business communication.
- OR completion of undergraduate core program in criminal justice or related field and 6 months experience in Ohio's adult rehabilitation & correction system.
- OR 6 months experience as Correction Warden Assistant 1, 63191.
- OR equivalency of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
