Parole Officer

Guided by the agency's mission "To reduce recidivism among those we touch," the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is looking for a dedicated security minded professional to assume the responsibilities of a Parole Officer in the Division of Parole and Community Services, Parole Board, Allen County. The position will be headquartered at AOCI (Allen Correctional Institution).

Job duties include overseeing offenders, utilizing evidence-based supervision practices, conducting risk assessments, developing and maintaining case plans, providing individual and group advice, conducting surveillance and drug testing, finding employment and vocational opportunities for offenders, maintaining contact with offender families and others, conducting investigations, writing reports, updating records, traveling to various locations, preparing information for Parole Board Hearings, screening inmates, responding to inmate inquiries, facilitating special hearings, delivering search warrants and subpoenas, pursuing violators-at-large, developing and presenting cases at revocation hearings, testifying as required, providing work direction and training staff, overseeing outpost office, completing background investigations, developing working relations with community agencies, writing speeches and presentations, and participating in community councils and committees.

Qualifications:

Associate's degree from accredited educational institution; 2 yrs. exp. in criminal justice, corrections, law enforcement, social service or related field; must have no legal prohibition against carrying firearms; valid driver's license. Or Bachelor's degree, from accredited educational institution; must have no legal prohibition against carrying firearms; valid driver's license. Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above. Probationary period is 365 days.

Probationary parole officers may not transfer to vacancy through canvass process but may be reassigned by management to another vacancy within same headquarter county.
