Patient Care Technician (PCT) – St. Rita's Medical Center
Job Summary:
A Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. The PCT is responsible for sanitizing and cleaning patients’ rooms, monitoring patients’ health and vital signs, and assisting patients with basic needs such as feeding and grooming.
- Provide basic patient care including care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene.
- Assist with mobility and perform therapeutic transfer techniques to promote independence and safety.
- Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and concerns.
- Provide high‑level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and employees.
- Document patient care and participate in hand‑off/report of pertinent information upon arrival and departure.
- Perform delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
- Individualize care based on patient interests and hobbies.
- BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire; must be obtained prior to direct patient care).
- Successful completion of a nursing aide training program or
- STNA State Tested Nurse Aide (required if OH LTC)
- CNA Certified Nurse Aide
- State‑tested Nurses Aide or a nursing program with one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation
- One year of relevant clinical experience
Recent experience in acute care, physician’s office, home health/hospice, or long‑term care facility is preferred but not required.
Skills & Abilities- Problem‑solving skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional engagement with staff and patients.
- Proactive approach in a rapidly changing environment.
- EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred).
