The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)/Rehab Admission Assistant provides physical therapy treatments and related services under the direction of a Licensed Physical Therapist in accordance with Ohio laws and regulations governing physical therapy practice. This position may provide services in Acute Care, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Pediatrics, LMHS Outpatient Services, and the Wellness Center as assigned. The role includes coordinating admissions to the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit by reviewing patient records, assessing rehabilitation potential, collecting and entering admission data, communicating with patients and families, and serving as a liaison with physicians, staff, and case managers to facilitate appropriate admissions and continuity of care.

• Provide physical therapy treatments and related services under the direction of a Licensed Physical Therapist in accordance with Ohio laws and regulations.
• Coordinate admissions to the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit by reviewing patient records, assessing rehabilitation potential, collecting and entering admission data, and communicating with patients, families, physicians, staff, and case managers.
• Support continuity of care through effective liaison and coordination activities.
• Adhere to the Health System's mission, values, policies, and procedures; maintain professional conduct consistent with the American Physical Therapy Association's Standards of Ethical Conduct.
• This position is measured using age-specific criteria.

Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Must be licensed or eligible for licensure with the Physical Therapy Board of Ohio in accordance with The State of Ohio Laws and Rules Regulating the Practice of Physical Therapy Chapter 4755, and Chapters 4755-21 to 4755-29 of the Ohio Administrative Code. Physical Therapy Association membership is encouraged for this position.

No prior experience required. One to two years of clinical rehabilitation experience is preferred, particularly with chronically or catastrophically ill or injured patients. Experience in patient screening, rehabilitation admissions, case management, or post-acute care coordination is preferred.

Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of physical, occupational, and speech therapy services, as well as the rehabilitation continuum of care. Demonstrates strong assessment, critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Exhibits effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and customer service skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, physicians, referral sources, and interdisciplinary team members.

Maintains knowledge of insurance, managed care, third-party reimbursement, and rehabilitation admission processes. Proficient in the use of computer applications and electronic medical records. Demonstrates the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative while maintaining a professional image and high ethical standards.
