Summary:- Receives, processes and prepares all collection items, such as checks, bank cards, and cash presented to OIO by patients or insurance companies for deposit by performing the following duties.
- Compile and sort mail, such as letters, explanation of benefits, and checks, pertinent to patient accounts
- Prepare posting batches according to insurance companies, number of checks, specific dollar amount, and self-pay checks
- Import and post ERA and mailed in checks
- Complete patient refunds for over payments on accounts
- Answer phone calls to take payments
- Research and process adjustments on large insurance checks, i.e., Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medical Mutual
- Occasionally stamp check endorsement, calculate batch total, and complete deposit slip for satellite offices. Hold actual checks in labeled envelope until batch is posted
- Occasionally record posted batches on excel spreadsheet
- Occasionally balance daily transaction registers and summary
- Occasionally help work insurance denials and underpayments
- Assist with related projects as assigned

- An associates degree in accounting or business administration or three years experience with accounts receivable, including one year of experience accounting in a health care organization is required. Experience in Med Evolve, Waystar, and eClinical
Works preferred.
- Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, copiers and other office equipment. Requires sitting for long periods of time at a computer terminal. Must have good computer skills. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens and to work in an environment which can be stressful.
Must be very organized and able to prioritize daily routine.
- Full time: 40 hours minimum per week; available for overtime as needed; varied day shift hours on week days
