Memory Care Activities Coordinator Job Summary
Aventura at Assumption Village is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Memory Care Activities Coordinator to join our team! As a key member of our community, you will be responsible for directing the development, implementation, and supervision of activities programs designed to meet the social, psychosocial, and therapeutic needs of our residents.
Essential Functions- Direct the development, implementation, supervision, and ongoing evaluation of activities programs to meet the social, psychosocial, and therapeutic needs of residents
- Prepare a monthly calendar of activities and post it in a prominent location
- Complete and/or direct the completion of the activities component of the comprehensive assessment and contribute to the comprehensive care plan goals and approaches
- Ensure that scheduled program activities are carried out seven days per week and are tailored to residents' unique requirements and skills
- Serve as a member of the QAPI Committee, Care Plan Meetings, IDT meetings, Department Head Meetings, and Mandatory in services
- Monitor and maintain resident safety during activities and ensure that harmful items are strictly controlled
- Oversee the establishment and smooth operation of the Resident Council, including documentation of meeting minutes and concerns expressed
- Perform administrative functions, including assisting with staff orientation, policy development, and employee performance evaluations
- Oversee the facility's volunteer program and supervise student practices in Leisure Studies and related educational areas
- Encourage resident participation in activities and document outcomes, assess resident needs, and develop resident activities goals for the written care plan
- Treats all residents with dignity and respect, promoting and protecting all residents' rights
- Maintains confidentiality of protected health information
- Possesses good verbal and written communication skills and ability to exercise judgement
- Remains composed in stressful situations and possesses strong leadership skills
- Displays a positive attitude and ability to coordinate and conduct meetings, set and achieve goals
- Is organized, efficient, and possesses basic computer skills
- Makes independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and deals tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public
- Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary
- Clinical knowledge and/or STNA certification is a plus but not required
