Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry and Renal unit position requiring ACLS, telemetry interpretation skills, and a minimum of 2 years of RN experience.

• 28-bed General Med/Surg Telemetry and Renal unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes renal patients and those requiring telemetry monitoring and multi-system care
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5 with 2 techs per shift; charge nurses are out of ratio on days and in ratio on nights
• Common drips include Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin
• Oxygen modalities include trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and nasal cannula
• Nurses are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry every 4 hours
• Phlebotomy is available for peripheral lab draws
• Charting performed in Epic
• 12-hour PM shifts, every other weekend (EOW), and every other holiday (EOH)
• Conducts patient assessments, develops and implements care plans, and evaluates treatment effectiveness
• Serves as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments and with family members or caregivers
• Administers medications in accordance with state of practice guidelines and facility policies
• Clinically manages patients with multi-system organ failure and/or multisystem trauma
• Acts as a patient safety advocate through participation in ongoing quality improvement initiatives
• EKG/dysrhythmia exam required on the first day with two attempts allowed to pass; a study guide will be provided
• Travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Proof of address required for consideration (e.g., driver's license, voter registration card, federal tax return, military Form 2058, or W2 from US government)
• 1 supervisory reference required for consideration
• Full SSN and DOB (MM/DD) required for consideration
• CAPD experience preferred
