Quality Assurance (QA) Field Inspector

The Quality Assurance (QA) Field Inspector will support the QA Manager/Lead across multiple projects, with a primary focus on ensuring compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices. This role involves active participation in QA activities within the Construction Management Team (CMT) and close collaboration with contractors and project teams to promote a strong culture of safety and quality.

Engage regularly with Contractor QC personnel and all members of the Construction Company Management Team (CCMT), including safety, supervision, leadership, and supply chain management, to maintain open and effective communication. Develop a thorough understanding of the scope of work (SOW) for assigned projects.

Contractor Quality Manuals and practices are audited for ongoing compliance and findings are communicated to CCMT members. Contractors’ Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) are reviewed and accepted prior to the commencement of work; compliance audit results are communicated to CCMT members. Contractor workmanship is monitored and audited to ensure adherence to Cenovus specifications, industry codes, and best practices through field surveillance.

Quality Surveillance Reports are prepared and issued as required.

Witness critical construction and installation activities and complete all applicable documentation, including but not limited to:

• Mechanical:
  Pressure equipment inspections, hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, and torquing of mechanical and electrical connections.
• Electrical:
  Crimping of critical equipment and cable connections, torquing of electrical connections, and electrical insulation testing for major feeder cables.
• Civil, Structural, and Coatings:
  Excavation, backfill, and concrete works, bolt tensioning, and application of coatings and insulation.

Identify inconsistencies or discrepancies between field conditions and drawings, and communicate findings to the appropriate CMT Field Technician for resolution. Contractor performance is continuously verified against approved ITPs and execution plans.

Work closely with CCMT members to support project and contractor readiness activities. Attend and actively participate in contractor onboarding and performance meetings, presenting quality-related issues and concerns as required.

Identify lessons learned and propose corrective actions for consideration by CCMT members in future projects. Provide ongoing feedback on Cenovus forms, drawings, details, and specifications to support continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain awareness of common deficiencies related to the project scope and the Master Deficiency List, working with CCMT members to close out identified items.

Prepare and submit written daily reports to CCMT summarizing QA activities, identified risks, issues, and concerns.

• High School Diploma, relevant trade certifications, or equivalent experience in quality assurance.
• 8–10 years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, industry standards, and best practices.
• Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
