- Install, repair, and replace cylinder and key locks, door closers, panic bars, and related locking hardware.
- Lubricate and adjust locks, including changing combinations on safes and replacing tumblers or padlocks.
- Maintain and repair lock parts fabrication in cell blocks, doors, cabinets, and safes.
- Perform preventive maintenance on locks and doors (inspect for wear, change locking devices, align).
- Repair doors, frames, and hinges as needed for lock repairs.
- Maintain records of all door locks and keys issued, including inventory of parts and equipment.
- Operate personal computer to prepare and maintain work‑related records, documentation, and reports.
- Prepare periodic reports and respond to information requests.
- Make chits (identification tags) for employees, key rings, vehicles, and other devices.
- Program and maintain electronic key system (e.g., Morse Watchman).
- Serve on institutional committees and attend required training, seminars, and meetings.
- Perform security functions as required (e.g., man‑down, shakedown, inmate movement).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
• 12 months training or experience in locksmithing; and 3 months training or experience in inventory control.
• Equivalent qualifications as required by the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment.
