Starting Pay Rate: $21.16/hour

Shift Time: 1630 - 2030

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Freight Handler, you will play a vital role in transporting freight in a dynamic and fast-paced dock environment. This position involves moving goods to and from trailers for effective loading and unloading.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Utilize both motorized and manual equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, to handle freight efficiently.

  • Ensure the accuracy of freight documentation, verifying it matches the freight description in accordance with safety regulations.

  • Secure freight within trailers with the appropriate equipment and materials to prevent damage during transport.

  • Repair any damaged freight when necessary and maintain careful records and reports related to freight handling.

  • Provide assistance to customers with their freight and documentation needs.

  • Conduct hostling duties as required to facilitate operations.

  • Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned to support overall operations.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operation is a plus.

  • Familiarity with hostler or yard mule duties is advantageous.

  • Basic math skills and the ability to count accurately, with or without a calculator.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Capability to lift and carry freight of various weights regularly, including handling heavy dock plates and trailer doors.

  • Ability to bend, twist, and perform manual tasks throughout the shift.

  • Team player with the ability to work independently.

  • Previous experience in a dock or warehouse setting is preferred.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • Work in a dock environment with exposure to various weather conditions, noise, and other typical warehouse elements.

  • Hours may vary based on operational needs.

  • This role involves frequent interaction with service center personnel in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented setting.
