Job Overview

We are recruiting a world‑class Social Caseworker for the Child Protection Intake Unit at the Arapahoe Department of Human Services. The Hospital Liaison Social Caseworker C will focus primarily on child abuse and neglect investigations reported from hospitals.

• Conduct investigations of alleged physical abuse and neglect; determine if the situation warrants recommendation of placing children outside the home, supervise placement of children, coordinate parent/child visits, and determine if a child should be recommended to return home.
• Perform evaluation and assessment of need for services; provide crisis intake and/or develop long‑term case plans appropriate to the child(ren) and family; monitor progress of clients and modify case plans as needed.
• Provide individual or family counseling on an ongoing or crisis basis to children and their parents experiencing severe problems in the parent‑child relationship.
• Make collateral contacts with community resources such as law enforcement and medical personnel to obtain additional information, coordinate services, or secure assistance.
• Gather and consolidate background information for court hearings, judicial reviews, or placement facilitation.
• Participate in staffing with school, mental health facilities, child protection review teams, and other professionals involved with the family.
• Attend court hearings; confer with lawyers, children, parents, witnesses, and significant others regarding their respective roles.
• Serve as an information and referral source to other employees and to the public.
• Perform a variety of ancillary assignments as needed, including preparing and maintaining client records and completing required forms and reports.

Experience: Three (3) years of full‑time professional social casework experience after completing the human behavioral sciences degree in a public or private social services agency.

A Master of Social Work (MSW) will substitute for two (2) of the required three (3) years of experience. A Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or a master’s in a human behavioral science field will substitute for one (1) of the required three (3) years of experience.

• Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; hours may vary.
• Must successfully pass a criminal and driving record background check(s).
• Must possess and maintain a current Colorado driver’s license.
