Job Summary

Motor City Battery Company is a growing, full service battery retailer and wholesaler. We are seeking a talented Bookkeeper to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurate financial records and ensure the company’s compliance with all legal requirements. Your responsibilities will include recording and verifying transactions, bringing the books to the trial balance stage, and completing tax forms.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has a strong understanding of accrual accounting.

Responsibilities

• Enter financial data and transactions
• Verify the accuracy of transactions that have been entered
• Prepare trial balance
• Analyze budgets and other financial information
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Assist with collections
  - Send statements, follow up with customers on past-due invoices
• Complete required tax forms
• Payroll processing with ADP and related recordkeeping
• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors degree in accounting
• Previous experience as an accountant, bookkeeper, or similar position
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Good with spreadsheets, experienced in Microsoft Excel, Quick Books Online, and basic accounting systems
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
• Experience in multi-location and multi-business recordkeeping
