Executive Director Of Special Education
Lincoln Park Public Schools is seeking an Executive Director of Special Education. This position requires meeting Michigan Department of Education requirements for Director of Special Education approval under MARSE Rule 340.1771, either Full Approval or eligibility for Temporary Approval. A master's degree or higher is required, along with full approval or endorsement in at least one area of special education and at least three years of successful professional practice or administrative experience in special education.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and coordinating world-class special education and intervention programs, developing progress monitoring systems, and ensuring the development of procedures, forms, and templates for the operation of special education services. They will also provide ongoing professional training and coaching to special education teachers, ancillary staff, and school administrators, and ensure that student records and documentation for special education issues are accurate, timely, and meaningful and in compliance with IDEA, MARSE, and County Guidelines.
The Executive Director of Special Education will be responsible for ensuring academic progress for all special education students, proper and compliant administration of all state, federal, and local assessments, and developing, implementing, and supervising a goal-oriented plan to reduce achievement gaps between special education students and their peers. They will also manage and supervise all center-based programs including budget and compliance documents, and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, parents, faculty, staff, and administrators.
The position is responsible to the Superintendent of schools and is a fifty-two (52) week position with a salary commensurate with qualification and experience.
