Literacy Coach - Raupp
Announcement of vacancy for the school year. Grant funded position available.
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with proper endorsement
- Must meet MCL 380.1531 & administrative rules governing the certification of MI teachers
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state statutes
- Reading Recovery training preferred or willing to obtain
- Shows knowledge of current literacy practices and strategies
- Thorough knowledge of the components of a comprehensive literacy program and literacy strategies
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, students, and parents and the general public
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education and/or Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
Applicant must provide evidence of meeting qualification.
Duties:
- Coordinate and provide strategic instructional coaching to meet the individual needs of teachers
- Model effective instructional strategies for teachers
- Facilitate study groups
- Train teachers in data analysis and differentiated instruction
- Coach and mentor colleagues
- Ensure evidence-based reading programs
- Train teachers to diagnose and address reading deficiencies
- Work with teachers in applying evidence-based reading strategies in other content areas
- Work frequently with pupils in whole and small group instruction or tutoring in the contents of modeling and coaching in or outside of teachers' classrooms
- Increase instructional density
- Help lead and support reading leadership teams
- Model and train teachers in accordance with Lincoln Park Schools instructional philosophy and curriculum
- Model small and whole group instruction
- Train new hires before school starts
- Will not serve as a function in any administrative capacity
- Other duties as assigned
