Job OverviewResponsible for decontamination, assembly of instrument sets, operation of steam and Sterrad as well as all monitoring processes included with same.
Qualifications- CRCST
- Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician thru IAHCSMM or CBSPD required - 2 years of CSPD experience are required.
- Must obtain Scope certification CER within 6 months of start.
Preferred:
- 5 years of CRCST experience in a hospital setting or Same Day Surgery Center is preferred.
- Maintain adequate inventory for assembly of instruments and equipment.
- Perform multiple tasks that assist in the daily operation of all units as well as being responsible for customer service.
- Perform and participate in the decontamination and cleaning of all instrumentation received, which include but are not limited to instrumentation and equipment received from all units according to established standards and procedures.
- Prepare case carts and trays for decontamination and load them into washer and/or sterilizer as prescribed procedure.
- Perform the operation of the index washers, cart washers, ultrasonic cleaners as well as manually cleaning instruments and equipment as prescribed by established standards and procedures.
- Inspects all instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and breakage by viewing the instruments before assembly.
- Uses appropriate container, wrap or pouch according to the size of the instrument or equipment.
- Sterilizes instruments and surgical trays by following prescribed policies and procedures.
- Knows how to run tests on all sterilizers, monitor and document that all parameters have been met.
- Use chemicals in the appropriate fashion taking into consideration the intended use of chemical as well as chemical’s function: knowledge of appropriate PPE is also necessary.
- Participates in expediting the OR schedule by assisting the other members of the OR Team in obtaining the instruments/equipment necessary for the procedure in a timely manner. Assembles and distributes case carts accurately and in a timely manner.
