Job PurposeThe Safety Specialist applies their scientific and practical knowledge of the Safety compliance field in order to innovate, design, and improve systems, processes, equipment, and tools in their assigned areas to improve the Safety characteristics in alignment with daily operations, new model, business plan, and/or innovation to achieve or exceed targets and promote safety excellence.
Key Accountabilities- Lead department and support Plant themes and complex improvement projects.
- Proactively cycle PDCA to reduce injuries and hazards and ensure continuous improvement of safety characteristics of assigned areas.
- Leverage Safety expertise to support Department Leaders, production safety advocates and/or safety committees to achieve self-sustaining safety culture and high level of safety performance.
- Accurately interpret and apply the Honda Safety Management manual including NA and HDMA policies and procedures. Participate in PDCA of policies and procedures based on technical expertise.
- Perform and document complex safety compliance activity including risk assessments, ergonomic studies, and process and equipment innovation.
- Detailed presentation and reporting of safety activities and results including complex data analysis and trending.
- Develop personal technical expertise and professional skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology or other safety and health program or equivalent related experience.
Other Job‑Specific SkillsMinimum Experience:
0–4 years of safety experience.
Interpersonal relationship skills, Detailed understanding of major health and safety regulations and injury/illness prevention strategies, Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, Verbal and written communication skills, Open to mentorship guidance for personal skill growth, Experience using Microsoft Office products, Effective planning and prioritization skills.
Working Conditions- Open office environment.

- Overtime, holiday and weekend work possible (needs will vary).
- Able to work varying/rotating shifts for extended periods of time if requested.
