Overview

We recognize that there are certain core competencies that every CRNA is able to demonstrate as a result of his/her education and training. They include the following:

* Administer & monitor general anesthesia or monitored sedation.

* Proficient in airway management including mechanical ventilation.

* Placement of peripheral intravenous catheters.

* Pre-anesthesia evaluation.

* Post anesthesia care/discharge.

* Evaluate laboratory & diagnostic studies.

* Proficient in pain management.

* Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development principles, from neonate to geriatrics.

* Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, neonate through geriatrics.

* Relocation assistance available

Qualifications

Education:

* Completed AANA approved course in Anesthesia. Masters degree required.

Licensure/Certification /Registry:

* Licensed as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse in State of Illinois.

* Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist or new graduate who is eligible for certification.

* Healthcare Provider BLS and ACLS certification required.

* NRP certification required before completing their orientation period.

Credentialing:

* Maintains current Registered Nursing license and Advanced Practice Nursing license in Illinois (Requires 50 CEUs in 2 years).

* Maintains current CRNA certification. (Requires 40 CEUs in 2 years).

* Completes CRNA competency validation.

* Participates in FPPE/OPPE validation as required.

* Completes all process paperwork for credentialing re-appointment

* Completes annual self-evaluation and submits documentation for annual performance appraisal.
