SUMMARY
Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor‑trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Complies with Driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program and as required by DOT.
- Maintain vehicle in accordance to Elkhart Transportation management policy.
- Operate vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and applicable state and federal laws.
- Support on‑time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficiently as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and that it is the correct load before leaving facility.
- Verify product count while truck is being loaded.
- Comply with obtaining correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary signatures and date; return properly completed documentation to Transportation Manager.
- Comply with performance measures.
- Duties may vary depending on location.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- CDL A License.
- Prior experience driving large vehicles, such as box truck or similar.
- Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices.
- Previous experience delivering and handling freight preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication.
- Organization and attention to detail.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Time management.
- Systems analysis.
- Mathematical and deductive reasoning.
- Critical thinking.
- Active learning.
