Accounts Payable Specialist

Description

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a construction-focused organization in Lincoln, Nebraska. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who brings strong invoice processing experience, accuracy in financial coding, and confidence managing day-to-day payment activities. The position plays an important role in keeping vendor payments organized, timely, and aligned with established accounting practices.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming invoices, confirm supporting details, and assign the correct general ledger or cost codes before processing

- Handle full-cycle accounts payable tasks by entering invoices, monitoring approvals, and preparing items for payment

- Process vendor disbursements through ACH transactions and check runs while maintaining accuracy and deadlines

- Reconcile payment records and vendor statements to identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

- Maintain organized accounts payable documentation to support audit readiness and internal recordkeeping standards

- Communicate with vendors and internal teams to answer payment questions and follow up on outstanding items

- Verify that payment activity complies with company procedures and established financial controls

Requirements - Hands-on experience in accounts payable, preferably in a high-volume environment

- Working knowledge of invoice coding and account allocation practices

- Ability to process ACH payments and assist with routine check run activities

- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data entry and financial review

- Comfortable managing multiple priorities while meeting recurring payment deadlines

- Effective communication skills for coordinating with vendors and internal departments

- Proficiency with accounting systems and standard office software applications
