Job Title:

CSE Accountant II (Open)

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) seeks a detail-oriented professional to join our Office of Economic Assistance (OEA) Child Support Enforcement (CSE) Team.

Location & Compensation

Location:

Lincoln, NE
Salary: $25.403 per hour (non‑exempt)

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM
Dress:
Business Casual

Responsibilities
  • Receive, balance, deposit, and validate child support payments.
  • Determine distribution based on PRWORA and other federal/state regulations; resolve system discrepancies.
  • Interpret court orders and analyze payment records.
  • Review and approve invoices from interagency and private vendors for child‑support enforcement expenses.
  • Compile statistical information and complete required monthly, quarterly, and annual federal and state reports.
  • Collaborate with child‑support workers, agencies, and clients to resolve issues and disburse collections.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, statistics, or related field.
  • Experience with accounting/financial management systems.
  • OR two years of professional accounting experience, including development and modification of accounting/financial systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong critical‑thinking skills.
  • Experience interpreting court orders.
  • Knowledge of CHARTs, NIS, OnBase, JUSTICS, and/or NFOCUS.
  • Experience in child support, contracts, and forensic accounting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of professional accounting principles and GAAP.
  • Research and budgeting techniques; record‑keeping methods.
  • Proficiency with word‑processing, spreadsheets, and computerized accounting software.
  • Ability to analyze data, prepare budgets, design reports, and communicate findings.
