If you’re an accounting leader who enjoys having a real seat at the table — not simply producing reports after the fact — this could be a great opportunity. We’re partnering with our client in Central, Nebraska, a long-standing, family-owned agricultural manufacturing company seeking a Controller to take ownership of its accounting and financial operations.
This is a hands-on Controller position within a small, blue-collar manufacturing environment. You’ll work closely with company leadership, oversee the day-to-day accounting function, and play an important role in the organization's eventual transition from Microsoft Dynamics GP to Business Central.
What You’ll Do- Lead the company's accounting and financial reporting functions
- Oversee month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activity
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for company leadership
- Manage accounting processes related to a manufacturing environment, including inventory and operational activity
- Provide financial insight and support to the executive leadership team
- Oversee payroll-related accounting and applicable tax/compliance processes
- Maintain and continue improving accounting procedures, controls, and workflows
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, planning, and other financial initiatives
- Help prepare the organization for its future ERP transition from Microsoft Dynamics GP to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Identify opportunities to further streamline and automate accounting processes
- Strong accounting experience with the ability to independently lead a Controller-level function
- Manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred
- Agricultural or ag-related manufacturing experience would be especially valuable
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is highly preferred
- Comfortable learning and working across multiple accounting and operational systems
- A practical, hands-on approach — someone who can operate effectively without layers of corporate infrastructure
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with company ownership and leadership
- Thick-skinned, adaptable personality that fits well in a blue-collar, small-town environment
- Someone who can respect established processes while continuing to identify opportunities for improvement
This is an opportunity to step into an established accounting function that has already undergone significant modernization — and put your own stamp on what comes next. If you enjoy manufacturing, appreciate a down-to-earth environment, and want the autonomy to truly own the financial side of a business, this role is worth a conversation.
