As an Accounting Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting our Accounting and Finance teams, working on meaningful projects, and contributing to the daily operations of a high-performing department. You will learn the ins and outs of accounting processes, financial reporting, and systems in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. This internship is designed to prepare you for a successful career in Accounting or Finance, while providing exposure to the broader C Spire business.

This position is for a Summer Internship in 2026, located at our Corporate office in Ridgeland, MS.

• Provide support to the Accounting and Finance departments through assigned projects and daily tasks.
• Perform and complete assignments given by your Manager with accuracy and timeliness.
• Assist with accounting functions such as reconciliations, reporting, and data entry.
• Participate in financial analysis and review of departmental processes.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
• Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats across departments.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions around financial performance and processes.
• Collaborate with other interns in the summer internship program on cross-functional projects.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

In addition to that, we require:

• Must be pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Rising college junior, senior, or graduate student actively enrolled and in good standing at an accredited college or university.
• Minimum coursework for Accounting majors:
  Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, Business Computer Systems, Accounting Systems I, Intermediate Accounting I.
• Minimum coursework for Finance majors:
  Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, Management Information Systems, Financial Systems, Intermediate Financial Management, Financial Markets.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have housing in Jackson, MS, or Birmingham, AL.

We will give special consideration to candidates who have:

• Prior internship or work experience in Accounting or Finance.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
