Position Summary Information

General Description of Position
- Under the general direction and supervision of the Director of Grants & Sponsored Projects, the Grants & Sponsored Projects Specialist will provide (1) technical support to the Grants & Sponsored Projects Department in the areas of grants management, research, and writing; and (2) technical assistance to project directors of grants awarded to Southeast Community College to ensure accounting and record-keeping systems that comply with the terms and applicable regulations of the granting agency and with the policies and procedures of the College.

This is a part-time regular position.

Essential Functions
- Grants Management
-Provide grants management support to the Grants & Sponsored Projects Administrative Director, including:

Communicate with project coordinators;

Requesting and setting up cost centers for new grants;

Use online tools to assist with grant tracking and closeout processes;

Be familiar with all applicable grant compliance guidelines and regulations;

Coordinate survey projects;

Maintain the central file of grant records;

Collect and maintain required forms; (h) keep active grants information updated;

Assist with preparation for audits and monitoring visits;

File resource materials.

Research and Writing Assist with basic research and data collection for grant projects;

Assist with writing and editing grants;

Assist with report processes;

Complete specific assignments related to grants, for example, updating a previous application with recent data, developing forms, writing and editing reports, etc.

Marginal Functions
- May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required.

Perform other College functions and duties as assigned.

Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College. Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek.

Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

- Knowledge and experience in organizing and providing support in writing proposals and contracts.

Knowledge and experience in preparing reports, proposals, and contracts.

Ability to maintain friendly, reliable, positive service for all who interact with the office while observing applicable laws, regulations, requirements, and policies;

Competence with common computer programs, such as MS Word, MS Excel, and other related software

Ability to complete research assignments

Ability to understand and accurately monitor budgets

Ability to present information clearly and thoroughly, both orally and in written form.

Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines

Knowledge of proper grammar, editing rules, and standards.

Ability during peak times and on other occasions to work hours beyond the regular workweek, including possible evenings and/or weekends.

Knowledge of and experience in operating a phone system with Voice Mail, a personal computer, and e-mail.

Ability to perform keyboarding, telephone, and transport supply items.

Ability to perform repetitive motions such as movement of wrists, hands, and fingers.
